Description

The reptile collection of the Museo de Zoología, Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja consist of approximately 630 specimens (by the end of 2024) preserved in alcohol. The majority of the specimens are from El Oro, Loja, Morona Santiago and Zamora Chinchipe provinces, Southern Ecuador. Comprised of 19 families of snakes and lizards, many of which are underrepresented in other collections of the country.

La colección de reptiles del Museo de Zoología de la Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja consta de aproximadamente 630 especímenes (hasta finales de 2024) conservados en alcohol. La mayoría de los ejemplares son de las provincias de El Oro, Loja, Morona Santiago y Zamora Chinchipe, sur de Ecuador. Compuesto por 19 familias de serpientes y lagartos, muchos de los cuales están subrepresentados en otras colecciones del país.

Geographic Coverage

Ecuador, but most of the specimens are from southern Ecuador, from Azuay, El Oro, Loja, Morona Santiago and Zamora Chinchipe provinces.
