        <abstract>
            <para>The mammal collection of the Museo de Zoología, Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (MUTPL-M) consists of more than 1100 specimens (at the end of 2024) corresponding to 188 species, grouped into 93 genera, 26 families, and 10 orders. The specimens in the collection are preserved as dried skins, skeletons, and whole specimens preserved in alcohol. The vast majority of the collection is made up of small mammals, mainly bats, cricetid rodents and opossums, with a small representation of medium and large mammals. Most of the specimens are from the provinces of Azuay, El Oro, Loja and Zamora Chinchipe, in southern Ecuador.</para><para>La colección de mamíferos del Museo de Zoología, Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (MUTPL-M) consta de más de  1100 especímenes (al cierre de 2024) correspondientes a 188 especies, agrupadas en 93 géneros, 26 familias y 10 órdenes. Los especímenes de la colección se conservan como pieles secas, esqueletos y especímenes enteros conservados en alcohol. La gran mayoría de la colección está compuesta por pequeños mamíferos, principalmente murciélagos, roedores cricétidos y zarigüeyas, con una pequeña representación de mamíferos medianos y grandes. La mayoría de los ejemplares son de las provincias de Azuay, El Oro, Loja y Zamora Chinchipe, en el sur de Ecuador.</para>
